The carnival comes to town for Treaty Day Celebration
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – The time is nearing for the opening ceremonies of the First Annual Treaty Day Celebration, and with it comes the joy of the carnival. Starting on Wednesday June 2 through June 6, the carnival will be coming to Window Rock with the promise of funnel cakes, stomach-turning rides and family fun.
Hosted by Frazier Shows, this yearÕs carnival will have the same feel as the previously held Fourth of July celebration, and will also include many of the same rides.
Making an appearance at the First Annual Treaty Day Celebration is the renowned ride ÒThe ExperienceÓ, whose super spinning motions test the boundaries of any thrill seeker. It is a unique ride and is of only one of two rides of its kind in the country.
Other rides making an appearance are the local favorites, ÒThe KamikazeÓ, ÒPharaohs FuryÓ, ÒCliff HangerÓ, and ÒThe ZipperÓ, which usually draws the largest lines.
Big rides are not the only attractions that will be showcased at the Treaty Day Celebration, as there will be numerous children rides as well. With the Treaty Day CelebrationÕs added emphasis on the youth, this yearÕs carnival will include several rides that will be kid friendly, including several games with gold fish and teddy bear prizes.
With the rides and games also comes the usual carnival food. Funnel cakes, cotton candy and turkey legs will be found throughout the fair, as well as candy apples, pizza and Italian sausage.
This yearÕs celebration is projected to be the second largest carnival for Frazier Shows- behind the NationÕs fair- and will stress safety for all attendees.
ÒWe will have all the classic rides and the favorite rides at this yearÕs event,Ó explained Frazier Shows owner Steve Broetsky. ÒBut we take seriously the safety of our entertainment value.Ó
With the Navajo NationÕs attempt to bring older and younger generations together at the First Annual Treaty Day Celebration, safety will play a large part in this yearÕs carnival.
