WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. Ð It has been a week of man versus beast with Window Rock hosting the PRCA ProRodeo for the First Annual Treaty Day Celebration. ThereÕs been bucking, bouncing, bumps and bruises. While man has come out on top on few occasions, the past four days have belonged to beast.

Providing the eventÕs livestock for the weekÕs events was one of the nationÕs top Stock Contractors, Sammy Andrews of the Andrews Rodeo Company.

Andrews has been terrorizing cowboys with his ferocious beasts for the past twenty years and brought his terror squad of animals to Window Rock, including 2004 Bareback Horse of the National Finals, Roly Poly.

With the Treaty Day PRCA Rodeo being held June 3 Ð 6 rather than the annual Fourth of July celebration, the PRCAÕs top cowboys flowed into Window Rock looking to cash in on another rodeo. There was just one problemÉMr. Andrews and his livestock.

ÒThe level of talent here has been as good as the NFR,Ó stated Andrews. ÒThe change of dates has been really good for the cowboys, and when the boys come in and they can spur, it makes the stock look good too.Ó

On the final night of the Treaty Day PRCA Rodeo, the Andrews Rodeo Company took it to the cowboys once again. There were those who did fair rather well against the livestock, such as bull rider Bonner Bolton who scored a 92 on his ride, but then there were also those who failed to conquer there beastly counterparts. Of the nineteen cowboys riding Sunday night at the Dean C. Jackson Memorial Arena, eleven were bucked off.

It wasnÕt all bad for the competitors in the final performance of the PRCA rodeo. Matt Reeves of Pampa, TX won the nightÕs Steer Wrestling event with a time of 3.6. Tyler Corrington of Hastings, MN won the overall Saddle Bronc event with a score of 88 after taming Lock and Load.

Other winners were Barrel Racer, Robin Montague with a time of 17.05 seconds, and the number one ranked Team Ropers, Turtle Powell and Cory Petska, who lightening flash roped their steer in 4.4 seconds.

At the end of the night $1000 was awarded through Parks and Recreation Special Events to one lucky lady from Gallup, NM.
