As part of this year’s 60 th Annual Navajo Nation Fair, the Navajo Nation Fair Office is proud to invite everyone to the 2nd Annual Navajo Nation Exceptional Children’s Rodeo. It will be happening September 7 th, 2006 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Dean C. Jackson Rodeo Arena.

In conjunction with the Navajo Nation Fair Office, volunteer Navajo Nation Professional Rodeo cowboys and cowgirls will help children with disabilities enjoy a series of mock rodeo events designed to fit the needs of these special children. The events include Lickity Split Barrel Racing, Pony Ride Express, Kidz Kowboy Roping, Bucking Bronc Riding, Ashkii Happy Autograph Tent and Photos. Participants will also enjoy the Home on the Range Hospitality Tent.

Professional Indian cowboys and cowgirls John Boyd, Jr., Ruth and Edision Bitsui, Sammy Jo White, Preston Williams, Rudy Yazzie, Roger Gishie, Brent Given, Al Charley, Wilbur Murphy and Ben Bitsuie will volunteer their time to share their talents and experience with over 150 Navajo children with disabilities, aged Kindergarten through the eighth grade.

The event teaches acceptance and recognition for all exceptional children, their families and support organizations. This event also offers Navajo children, families and community to come together to bestow honor, value human dignity and allow the children to experience the joy of mounting a horse or swinging a rope for the very first time.
