The Navajo Nation Fair is pleased to present the 4th Annual Exceptional Children's Rodeo to recognize and honor our nation's most exceptional children. More than 200 children will be given the opportunity to cowboy up with Kidz Kowboy Roping, the Pony Express, Lickity Split Barrel Racing and other activities at their very own special event.

Children who are mentally and/or physically challenged from kindergarten through eighth grade are welcome to participate in the annual rodeo, which takes place on Kid's Day at the Dean C. Jackson Arena during the Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, Arizona.

The Exceptional Children's Rodeo, now in its fourth year, honors and celebrates the Navajo Nation's special children - those who are living with mental and/or physical challenges.

"The fourth exceptional rodeo is important because it signifies that this event completes the circle," planning team chairman George Arthur said, "the Exceptional Children's Rodeo is now a permanent part of the Navajo Nation Fair. We will no longer allow our special needs individuals to be forgotten and cast aside."

The rodeo continues to represent the Navajo Nation's commitment to recognize and honor Dine who are mentally and/or physically challenged.

Each year, the rodeo gets bigger and better as more people becom aware of its purpose. The planning team is working on making this year's rodeo the best yet, in honor of the sacredness of the fourth year.

Entries can be mailed to P.O.Box 910, Window Rock, AZ 86515. For more information, contact Karen Francis by email at or by phone at 505.593.3096.

The Navajo Nation Exceptional Children’s Rodeo provides a wonderful opportunity to help bring joy into the lives of special needs children. Every year more and more people volunteer their time and talents to make a special day for our exceptional children.

The rodeo is in need of volunteers to guide children through the stations, man the stations, register children, set up the stations and feed the children. The rodeo begins at 9 a.m. and runs to around 1 p.m. Volunteers begin preparing early in the morning around 7 a.m.

Volunteer registration forms are available above. Please contact Wilson Stewart at (928) 729-4333.
