Mercy Me set to headline second day of Navajo Nation Fair
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. – After an inspiring first day at the 64th Annual Navajo Nation Fair with strong performances by the youth in the Junior Rodeo and elegant competition in the Miss Navajo Nation Pageant, the second day is expected to be just as inspiring, but in a different way.
At 8 pm on Tuesday, September 7 at the Dean C. Jackson Memorial Arena, contemporary Christian rock group, Mercy Me, will be performing live in front of the Navajo Nation for only $2, along side Addison Road.
The Christian concerts will be new to the fair this year, but they will not be new to the Christian community. Mercy Me is one of the top bands in contemporary Christian music today and have been nominated for and has won dozens of mainstream and Christian music awards. In 2009, Billboard magazine even named Mercy Me the “Christian songs Artists of the Decade.”
“We are so pleased to bring the Navajo Nation a band as worldly renowned as Mercy Me,” stated fair manager, Norma Bowman. “There is a huge following of contemporary Christian music on the reservation and we’re just really excited at what this concert will bring to those who attend.”
Opening the night for Mercy Me will be the Dallas-based band, Addison Road. The band has recently experienced a string of top singles with “Hope Now,” Fight Another Day,” and “All That Matters,” and they are looking to make a name for themselves as respected as Mercy Me.
